July evenings have a way of tempting people outdoors when the sun lowers to the horizon.
Long evenings, dessert on the porch, and downtown strolls that somehow turn into lingering conversations all seem to come with the season.
And around here, there’s no shortage of stories worth sharing. This month, we’re looking forward to a Mamma Mia-inspired Splendor dinner, celebrating the hidden stories behind downtown businesses, and welcoming a brand-new gathering space just a few blocks from the Inn.
Pull up a chair and catch up on what’s happening from our perch this month.

Mamma Mia Comes to Splendor | July 19

Cue the ABBA soundtrack.
July’s Splendor dinner is taking a Mediterranean turn with a Mamma Mia-inspired evening. Think good food, conversation that stretches long after dessert, and just enough whimsy to make you wonder if everyone should break into song.
(We make no promises.)
Whether you’re planning a getaway weekend or simply looking for a memorable evening, we’d love to have a seat waiting for you.

Downtown Has a New Place to Gather
Just a few blocks from the Inn, downtown Mineral Wells has a brand-new gathering space that’s already inviting people to linger a little longer. Whether you’re taking an evening stroll, meeting friends, or simply looking for a shady spot to sit and watch the world go by, Poston Plaza is one more reason to wander downtown.
And if you’re traveling with a four-legged companion, you’ll be happy to know that Daffy has already conducted her official inspection and is pleased to report that the new park is pup-friendly. As with most things, she believes it could be improved with snacks.
A Little Birdie Told Me…
One of our favorite things about Mineral Wells isn’t found on a map.
It’s the people.
This month, our friend Magen is launching A Little Birdie Told Me, a series celebrating the stories behind downtown businesses and the people who make this community what it is. Every stop leads to another, creating a chain of connections and hidden stories that even longtime locals may not know.
And we’d love your help.
Did you meet someone during your stay who made an impression?
Maybe it was a shop owner, a barista, a server, or someone who shared a story that stuck with you.
Reply to this email or send us a note. We’d love to hear who crossed your path. Who knows? Maybe the little birdie will fly their way next.

Postcards from Magpie Inn

The inn is dressed in red, white, and blue, and all across downtown, neighbors are doing the same as Mineral Wells begins celebrating America 250.
It’s one more reason to slow down, take the long way back to the Inn, and enjoy a town that’s proud of where it’s been—and excited about where it’s going.

Magpie Inn
