February arrived here without much warning—and certainly without gentleness. The final days of January brought a winter storm, record-low temperatures, and long stretches of snow and ice that changed the pace of everything around us. Travel slowed. Schedules shifted. The Inn grew quieter, earlier, cozier by necessity.
And once the storm passed, something else lingered: the kind of stillness that only comes after weather has had its say. Normal schedules stopped. Coffee cups refilled more often. The world outside felt hushed, and inside, the rhythm softened into something steady and grounding. It wasn’t the January we expected—but it was one that invited us to settle in together.

Postcards from Magpie

A rare winter gift: Magpie Inn, quiet under snow.
During the storm, a pair of local friends—Stacy and Lori Blackburn—captured the Inn resting under a soft blanket of white. We’re so grateful they shared this moment with us; it’s not a sight we see often here, and it felt like Mineral Wells letting us glimpse something tender and fleeting.
The kettle was always on. The windows glowed early. And for a few days, everything moved at just the right pace.

From our perch to yours,
Magpie Inn
